We’ve learned our first lesson of traveling to Cuba. Hurry up and wait. Wait for our travel papers to be processed. Wait for our bags to be checked ($25/bag). Wait to pay our entrance/exit fee ($20/person). Wait for the sake of waiting. But it doesn’t matter, because on the other side of all this waiting is Cuba…and a mojito.
After researching multiple ways to travel to Cuba, we finally found the right people-to-people cultural exchange for us: freedom of the press, free speech, and all other rights the first amendment affords – fundamentals of an open and free democracy. We are traveling with journalist, publishers, and educators.
Cuba continues to become more accessible to Americans, but still limits travel to cultural exchange trips rather than tourism.
We’ll share all we learn in future posts:
- Packing tips
- Travel logistics
- Old Havana
Thanks for coming along with us on another VacationSuccess adventure.
